Perched on a steep mountainside, the Chalets en Champagne are a private and exclusive Shangri-La, located at Plaine Champagne, a vast and totally natural stretch of land right above the village of Chamarel. The chalets are little masterpieces, built almost entirely of wood. They are kept in a rugged country-style. Fully furnished and elegantly equipped, the Chalets en Champagne provide spectacular views of nature as they overlook the green slopes of the National Park and reach as far as Le Morne Mountain. The main access road branches off the main road to the high plateau. It is very steep and some driving skills are needed to get to the top.
Temperatures vary a lot at this extreme height, and nights are usually quite cool, even in summer. During island winter, long-sleeves, socks and an extra jacket is the norm; a fire in the fireplace definitely welcome too!
The airport can be reached in about 90 minutes, Port Louis in an hour, and the beaches of Tamarin, La Preneuse and Flic en Flac are 30 to 45 minutes away.
